Dinosaurs and Stars

Today’s very simple Friday lunch is packed in an EasyLunchBox:

Dinos and Stars

Dinos and Stars

I had to pack lunches in a hurry this morning, and this is what I came up with on the fly!  They’ve each got a dinosaur PB&J sitting on some rocks (pirate booty) and a babybel cheese with a star cut into it.  There is honeydew and grapes in the fruit compartment.  Girlie has cucumbers and bell peppers in her small compartment and Little Dude has yogurt.  This lunch took 5 minutes to put together, but includes a lot of healthy foods my kids love.

I am determined to get back over to Trader Joe’s this weekend, so I can stock up on all of our favorite things and have some more delicious and creative lunches next week.  Let’s hope this weekend doesn’t totally get away from me like the last two did!

When do you do your grocery shopping? Do you have a meal/lunch planning strategy? I keep thinking I’ll make menus, and then a grocery list, and then do the actual shopping, but it never seems to work out that way!

  1. When I was working we had a meal plan for the week. It eliminated that horrendous ‘what do you want for dinner tonight?’ discussion as well as made sure we had all the supplies ready. It also helped to get out of the bad habit of ordering takeout or pizza all the time!
On Sunday I would have Dana pick out about three meals he wanted and then I would pick three-I also tried to make them somewhat ‘match’ so I wasn’t buying 6 kinds of meats and a million dollars worth of random ingredients.
