The Lorax Bento!

The Lorax Bento!

Today’s the day!  I cleared my afternoon schedule and am going to surprise my girlie with a night out to see The Lorax movie!  She loves when I take her on a special girls only date night and it has been a while since I planned a fun one like this.  We re-read Dr. Suess’  book, The Lorax, on Monday night to get excited for seeing the movie “soon,” but she does not know that the day is today! She’ll find out when she opens her lunchbox in about an hour and finds this:

Lorax Ticket

My surprise Lorax ticket for the girlie to find when she opens her lunchbox at school today!

And when she opens the lunchbox, she will find my very silly Lorax Bento that I copied from Chef Corey! Definitely go check out her blog at Family Fresh Meals to  get a ton of great ideas for feeding your family.  I think my copycat bento came out great! I made an open-faced Lorax sandwich.  There is turkey and an english muffin under the cheese.  The sandwich is sitting on a bed of lettuce and has some green beans on top.  I made Truffula trees out of strawberries on top of green beans, and I tucked a little panda food pick in the fruit and told the girlie it is a Bar-ba-loot.  The Bar-ba-loot is feasting on pineapple and blueberries.  There are also Humming-Fish under the Lorax.  On the way to school, we talked about the various animals in the story and why they had to leave. I was really impressed by how much of the story she remembered.  She loves reading and has a great memory!  She also asked for more of her carrot soup from yesterday’s post, so she got some of that in a thermos too! Here is today’s EasyLunchBox:

Little Dude got a cute lunch today too!  I gave him the other half of the english muffin, with cream cheese on top and some fruit to make a face. He also got half a banana with some peanut butter in the middle.  This is his new favorite treat! He keeps asking for bananas with peanut butter.  I gave him his favorite crackers, pineapple, blueberries, and blueberry yogurt.  I have to say, this is definitely his dream lunch and I am feeling pretty happy with myself today for making it for him. I probably won’t see him tonight, since I am picking up the girlie and seeing a movie, so I really wanted to give him an extra special lunch to make ME feel better! Here is his EasyLunchBox:

Do your kids have any favorite foods that just reinforce the fact that they are your DNA?  Little Dude’s new fondness for banana & pb sandwiches just makes me chuckle at how much he is MINE!  Just like the girlie is a raging carnivore like her father.  It is so funny.

Ok, so fingers crossed that my afternoon is quiet at work and I can sneak out a bit early, so I can make it to the early movie with my girlie! I am excited for a fun night with her! :)
